Polyethylene food films
Polyethylene food stretch-film is a thin film made of polyethylene. Polyethylene food films has become the most popular wrapping material due to inexpensiveness and ability to use it manually without application of additional devices. Use of this film ensures prolonged foodstuffs storage period and preservation of the product properties; in addition, food film protects foodstuffs against external factor exposure and improves marketable style. Polyethylene food film is used mainly in everyday life and in retail store networks as disposable packaging for food products with short-term storage period, such as cheese, butter, sausages, pastry, fruits and other foodstuffs. This packaging material is generally used for packing of “cold” products.
Polyethylene food films are produced of low density polyethylene and have the two important properties: transparency and tackiness.
Usually, polyethylene film in roll has white color, however, if coloring pigments are added to polyethylene while production, the film will finally get a certain tint. This improves the product marketable state (for example, a yellow film is used while bakery packing).
Adhesive additives are not used while food film production. Tackiness results from mutual attraction between material molecules only and depends on the polyethylene quality and its electrization degree.
Special features:
- Absolute safety: there are no harmful additives in the film composition
- Optimal tackiness: the film layers stick together while packing (it is a so-called “клиг-effect”), which prevents the film spontaneous uncoiling
- Roll coiling uniformity makes it possible to detach layers without film ruptures
- High air impermeability and moisture resistance: the film protects packed products from environment factor exposure and keeps their warmth and moisture, which, consequently, enables to preserve their freshness longer
- Hhigh durability: if the film is slightly pulled on while packing, it will stretch but not tear off
- High transparency
